Getting Started With ABA Therapy

We understand that an ASD diagnosis can seem overwhelming. We are here to help navigate you on your journey. We can help determine what services your insurance covers and help get you the required authorizations.

Step 1: Contact Us!

Get in touch with our team via email, phone, or complete the interest form below. We want to get to know you and how to best support you and your family.

Step 2: Intake Call

Someone from our intake team will give you a call. During this call, we will ask you to share information about your child, answer questions about our services, and provide you with more information about this process.

Step 3: Parent Consult

We want to meet you! Come in to tour our center and meet our team. During this time, you will meet with our Clinical Director who will sit down with you and ask questions to get to know your child, their strengths and challenges, and understand the needs of your family better. You will also learn more about our organization, our style of treatment, and what makes Skipping Stones different from other ABA providers. Additionally, our team will collect required documentation, run a quote of benefits, and request an authorization from your insurance company to conduct an initial assessment.

Step 4: Initial Assessment

A BCBA will meet with your child and conduct an initial assessment. During this assessment, the BCBA will gather information and data according to deficits outlined in the DSM-5 diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (maladaptive behaviors, social communication and interaction, restrictive and repetitive behaviors). Assessments are conducted in a naturalistic setting, through play and using other evidence-based practices such as direct instruction.

Step 5: Creation of Treatment Plan

During this time the BCBA who conducted your child’s initial assessment will create an individualized treatment plan. Treatment plans include and full diagnostic and collaboration of care review and individualized goals under the domains of behavior reduction goals, social communication and interaction goals, restrictive and repetitive behavior goals, and parent training goals. Additionally, your treatment plan will include the clinically recommended number of hours for services. Parents/Caregivers will be asked to review, discuss, and sign-off on your child’s treatment plan before submitting for authorization.

Step 6: Begin Services

Once your child’s treatment plan and services have been approved by your insurance provider, our team will reach out to schedule start of services with you. Service hours will be scheduled according to the clinically recommended number of hours, client availably and staff availability.

*For services other than 1:1 Center-Based ABA, complete Steps 1-2 and our team will inform you of the next steps as they may vary depending on each service*
